Our opening night last week was a massive success, with films that made such an impression!
Audiences were in awe following Two, the documentary by young filmmaker Maya Newell about adult babies, and Mind, the story of author Tom Cho, who grew up as a Chinese-Australian transman in suburban Melbourne.
Audiences however were particularly struck by Scarlet Road, which has just been screened at SXSW. The story of a sex worker whose clientele are people with disabilities, this Australian documentary was the most talked about
film of the night. The film’s producer Pat Fiske spoke with two of the film’s featuring subjects, Saul and Denise, who spoke alongside Maya Newell.

“Finally got to see Scarlet Road tonight at Seen and Heard: Promoting Women Filmmakers festival. This is a such an inspiring, and moving film about sex worker Rachel Wotton & her work with clients with disability. Should be required viewing for all anti-sex-work feminists.”
